InFocus Turbo 5 Plus Review Gaming, User Experience, Camera, Battery 

America based smartphone brand, InFocus has launched a new smartphone recently, called, the InFocus Turbo 5 Plus. The Turbo 5 Plus is one among the entry-level smartphones that have dual camera support.

The Turbo 5 Plus is the successor to InFocus Turbo 5 launched in June 2016. The Turbo 5 Plus has a dual camera setup at the back, and also a humongous battery.

We have been playing with the smartphone for some days now, and we thought of sharing our experience with you. Before we start, the Turbo 5 Plus is available in Amazon India for Rs. 8,999.

  User Experience And Software

  Let’s begin with the user experience first. The Turbo 5 Plus comes with Android 7.0 Nougat. The software and hardware optimisation is very poor in this smartphone. Even the app opening animations show signs of lags, which breaks the overall experience of the smartphone.
  
  Another big problem with the Turbo 5 Plus is the touch responsiveness. Unlike other smartphones in the similar price range, the Turbo 5 Plus’ touchscreen doesn’t offer the same responsiveness, which is evident right from booting the device. The overall user experience is pretty poor on the smartphone.
  Call quality wise, the Turbo 5 Plus supports Jio 4G SIM card and even has VoLTE. Call quality is fine and networks speeds were decent too.

  Gaming And Benchmark Scores

  Even though the user experience in the Turbo 5 Plus is poor, the gaming side of things was best. Games such as Asphalt 8 Airborne, Dead Trigger 2, etc run well on the smartphone.
  
  The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek MT6750 chipset with 3 GB of RAM. Also, it has 32 GB of internal storage helping you to store more games, and you can add storage with a micro SD card.

  Nevertheless, the device exhibited some heat while playing the games, which is expected with the chipset. Overall, the gaming performance is decent in the Turbo 5 Plus.

• Battery

  InFocus added a 4850 mAh battery in the smartphone, which is less than the 5000mAh cell used on the Turbo 5. But the battery life on the Turbo 5 Plus is nuts.
  
  Users will get two days of battery life with moderate usage. And with full LTE usage, the phone easily gave over one day of battery life.

• Camera

  The most important upgrade in the Turbo 5 Plus when compared to Turbo 5 is the dual rear camera setup.
  The phone has a sensor of 13 MP and 5 MP. The former acts as a primary sensor capturing colour RGB shots and the secondary 5 MP sensor is a wide-angle one.
  
  This implementation is same as LG’s implementation on the LG G6 smartphone.
  
  The phone also comes with a Portrait mode, which makes use of both the sensors and adds depth in the images. The Turbo 5 Plus has a 5MP front-facing camera, whose images can be used on social media platforms but as usual, they lack details.
• The 13 MP rear camera offers decent shots in daylight, but it lacks details, which is let down. The wide-angle sensor is an unusable one because it is a just 5 MP sensor.Take a look at the camera samples below.
  
  Sometimes the phone will not focus on the subject instead may blur it.
  
• The camera application interface is a very old one which we saw in smartphones with Android KitKat or below. It offers several modes such as sepia, grayscale, etc.

  Conclusion

  The Turbo 5 Plus offers decent value for our money, but the rear camera images lack details. The device delivers good day-to-day performance but the software needs more optimizations.
  Also, you should expect software updates from InFocus. The phone is a good deal for Rs. 8,999, but there are decent alternatives in the form of Xiaomi Redmi 4, Moto E4Plus, Lenovo K6 Power or Yu Yureka Black.
