Social media has made everyone’s life an open book (one that’s open a bit too far in some cases). As more and more companies and individuals come to rely on the Internet as a primary source of information about others, so too does the possibility of compromising info reaching the wrong person grow.
For folks concerned about their personal information potentially costing them jobs and relationships, or for those dealing with the harsh realities of social media fallout, the decision to “pull the plug” is an increasingly attractive one. And while it might seem impossible to keep your private life private and your Internet presence to a minimum in a 24/7 connected world, the truth is you can disappear online with a little effort and dedication.
The first step to keeping a low profile online is (as you may expect) to stop using social media sites and delete your accounts. If you’re confused about where to start, sites such as JustDelete.Meoffer links and tips to help you review your existing presence and get the process moving (and whether it is actually possible to delete your account at all).
Ready to erase your tracks and disappear online, once and for all? This infographic from Who Is Hosting This reveals the nine steps you need to take to remove your personal information collected all over the web.

How to remove the Windows shortcut arrow from desktop icons in Window 10

In Windows, icons for shortcuts have little arrows to remind you that what you’re looking at is a shortcut. Even though the arrows are smaller than in some previous versions of Windows, they aren’t terribly attractive. Fortunately, they’re pretty easy to remove.
The easiest way to remove shortcut arrows, if you’re willing to download extra software, is to use a third party tweaking utility. One of the best in Ultimate Windows Tweaker 4 for Windows 10. It also happens to be free and it’s a portable tool, so there’s nothing to install. Just download it, run it, and start tweaking. Tools like this offer lots of tweaking options, so our advice is to go slow. Make a tweak or two at a time and see how they work, then come back for more. Ultimate Windows Tweaker automatically creates a system restore point for you when it starts, but if you’re concerned about a tweak to go ahead and back up your computer first
To remove arrows from shortcut icons with Ultimate Windows Tweaker, choose the Customization section on the left, click the File Explorer tab, and then click “Remove Shortcut Arrows From Shortcut Icons.” To put them back, follow the same process. The button will now be named “Restore Shortcut Arrows To Shortcut Icons.”

If you’re using Windows 7 or an earlier version, the Club recommends the older Ultimate Windows Tweaker version 2. Unzip and load the program. Then click Additional Tweaks in the left pane. Check Remove arrows from Shortcut Icons. The changes won’t take place until you click Apply, then Close, and then reboot (or at least log off and on).
Most programs allow you to click Apply or Close. But this one only works if you do one, and then the other.

The study said that 7 out of 10 Indians felt completely lost without their smartphone. On an average, 40% of the consumers spend 2-6 hours of their time online.
Key highlights:
  • India is on the path to become a mobile first nation
  • Enabled Indians to overcome geographical barriers and socio-economic status
  • A majority 76% said it provided personal security
India is on the path to become a mobile first nation. Affordable smartphones have enabled Indians everywhere to rise beyond their circumstances and overcome economic inequalities, according to a study by Qualcomm and CyberMedia Research (CMR).
It said that the mobile phone has emerged as the single most critical device that has enabled Indians to overcome geographical barriers and socio-economic status and to embrace new economic realities.
A whole new generation of Indians, across all demographics, have emerged that have not used a desktop or a laptop, but rather have leapfrogged to the digital world by embracing mobile technologies, especially smartphones.
While the feature phone has remained a communication tool, with limited functionalities for playing games and listening to music, the smartphone has emerged as an aspirational tool that replaces the functions of many other devices – whether it is a music player, a camera, or even a payment terminal.
“An overwhelming majority of those surveyed, do not possess a desktop, laptop, or a tablet. For them, their smartphone is the primary, and only, platform to the digital world. While the survey findings indicate the myriad contexts in which mobile phones have enabled India, I believe the most encouraging and positive takeaway is the sense of personal security and independence gained by women,” said Prabhu Ram, Head – Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR.
Smartphones have led to rising economic freedom and gender equality as a majority 76% said it provided personal security, 66% provided enhanced quality of life, 63% said personal independence and 54% improvement in economic condition for the better.
Among women a large number of respondents said it provided personal independence and personal security.
The report also said that 75% of Indian consumers have enhanced knowledge of the world due to smartphones and 63% are able to find information swiftly.
The study also found that within 30 minutes of waking up, 69% of Indians reach for their smartphone.
On an average, 40% of the consumers spend 2-6 hours of their time online. The maximum usage is during working hours (42%) and at night (38%).
Moreover, 7 out of 10 Indians felt completely lost without their smartphone.
“The smartphone market in India is growing at an exceptional pace and the opportunities therein are limitless. Adding impetus to the growth is affordability of data services, thus enabling Indians to gain access to many services including various schemes and services offered by the Government of India. The smartphone enables consumers in India to not just communicate, but rather to go online, and perform many key functions in their lives – whether it is learning new information, connecting to friends, making and accepting payments, navigating through traffic, accessing government services, finding and applying for jobs and many more,” said Larry Paulson, vice president and president of Qualcomm India.
